One Family Approach

About the One Family Approach

The One Family Approach (OFA) is North Lincolnshire’s vision for creating a system that works for all children, young people, and families. It brings partners together to provide and commission integrated services across health, education, and social care. Our ambition is clear:

Every child should thrive in their family, achieve in their school, and flourish in their community.
The phrase ‘One Family Approach’ reflects how together and joined up we are as professional partners in North Lincolnshire. It says how important relationships are to us all, and it reminds us of our commitment to family and community as the foundation stones of wellbeing and prevention.

The One Family Approach has always been driven by a bold ambition to transform the way support is delivered for children and families. With the introduction of the government’s Families First social care reform programme, we now have an unprecedented opportunity to achieve sustainable, meaningful change. This reform will enable us to strengthen integration, enhance early help, and create a system that truly makes North Lincolnshire the best place to grow up and raise a family.

One Family Approach Partnership Strategy

The One Family Approach Partnership Strategy clarifies our integrated One Family Approach and commissioning intent in relation to health, social care and education for children, young people and families.

Helping Children and Families in North Lincolnshire

The Helping Children and Families in North Lincolnshire 2025-26 explains how services support children, young people and families to participate, find help online and in their networks and communities, to be resilient, stay safe and independent. It includes clear guidance on levels of need and the One Family Approach Practice model.

The Children and Young People’s Challenge

The Children and Young People’s Challenge 2025-28 sets out the seven key priorities that children and young people from across North Lincolnshire have told us are important to them.

The Challenge has been co-produced after a period of significant consultation with children and young people from all walks of life and different social groups. It will be our constant reminder of what children and young people are experiencing, and what they want us as decision-makers and leaders, to do to improve their lives. We will take on this challenge.
