The session will cover:
• The ability to distinguish between different immigration statuses and the rights
and restrictions they confer.
• The ability to identify whether a local authority has the power to provide
financial support, accommodation and/or care.
• An understanding of the legal framework, including The Children Act, The Care
Act, The Nationality Immigration and Asylum Act, The Immigration and Asylum
Act, The Mental Health Act and relevant case law.
• An understanding of the procedures and assessments involved in accessing
support.
• An understanding of the other services available to migrants with no recourse to
public funds.
