Developing an Understanding of Child Sexual Abuse

This two-day course aims to increase practitioners’ understanding of child sexual abuse (CSA), helping them to identify concerns, respond appropriately, and improve outcomes for children and families. The training is interactive and uses case studies, group discussions and practical exercises to build confidence in recognising and responding to CSA.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Identify the different forms of child sexual abuse.
• Use appropriate and confident language when discussing CSA.
• Understand the research and evidence base relating to CSA.
• Recognise groups of children who may be particularly vulnerable to CSA.
• Understand the impact of CSA on children, families and wider society.
• Recognise, respond to, report and accurately record concerns about CSA.
• Share learning and best practice within their own organisations and professional networks.
